Kitchen Tile Projects (II)

Kitchen Tile Projects (II)When using dry ice, you want to wear heavy-duty gloves so you do not burn your hands. By holding the dry ice on top of the glue for one to two minutes, the glue should be scraped off very gently. For the heat gun, the heat produced helps to soften the glue, again allowing you to scrape it off gently. If you have damaged wall tile, small broken chips can be replaced by cutting a replacement piece and using epoxy to attach it. To add a touch of creativity, make designs by painting, stamping, or stenciling designs. For painting, you can either use a design to trace or draw a design freehanded.

For painting freehanded, you need to use only glossy enamel paints. This type of paint can be found at hobby or craft stores and is designed specifically for dishware. Other supplies would include small paintbrushes, a couple of paper plates, and some white tiles in the size you need. Before you paint the design on the tile, it is best to practice a couple of times on paper. If you have children, you might even consider getting them in on the fun. Once the designs are complete, bake the painted tiles as instructed on the paint bottle. Once the baking time is done, turn the oven off and allow the tiles to cool inside. This seals your design, making it permanent and easy to clean.
