Concrete Finishes (I)
Most homes around the country have concrete somewhere around the house. Perhaps you have a concrete entryway leading to the front door, a poured concrete slab in the back where you barbecue during the summer, or a concrete driveway for the cars. Typically, when concrete is laid correctly, it will last for years and years. However, even well laid concrete can become damaged in the form of broken or flaking areas, chips, or cracks. In addition to the damaged area looking bad, it will eventually cause additional areas to deteriorate. To save money, you should have the damaged area of the concrete fixed or fix it yourself right away, as waiting will only result in a cost repair job that is expensive.
If you have concrete around your home, every spring look to see if you notice any damage so the problem can be fixed. The most important thing about fixing concrete damage is choosing the appropriate product since there are many different types of products on the market, each offering a different solution. For instance, if you find that the concrete has small cracks that measure from one-eighth to one-half inch wide then patching it would be difficult. Therefore, you want to look for a liquid sealant that can be inserted right into the crack. This textured sealant will seal the crack and best of all it can be used for both horizontal and vertical cracks.
