Bookshelf in a closet
Home improvement is the easiest way to have a built in bookcase is to take over a shallow closet. Remove any shelving and shelf support and paint or panel the closet as you choose before installing a new shelf support system. Fasten the post to the ceiling joists with L Brackets. Sand all edges lightly then finish the unit as you please.
Hide the hardware
Track and bracket systems make easy to assemble adjustable shelving. In this version metal tracks are screwed into 2 by 4 posts, rather than into the wall. Brackets are turned toward the wall. Post which extend form ceiling to floor, should be secure with adjustable furniture glides if you don’t want to nail or bolt to the ceiling joist. Bookshelf with an inner glow
A pair of light fixtures hides under this shelf. Placed above a desk, it makes an attractive lamp shade and holds books at the same time. For the frame nail together fir 1 by 1s reinforced by crosspieces along the front and top. Sand and finish the wood as you like.
